Reception and supper, with Countess Bathurst

Harpist Jemima Phillips was the surprise entertainer when the Bells Appeal committee laid on supper and entertainment in the church on Friday November 3rd.  It was a chance for us to say thank you to the many donors and supporters of our appeal and for them to meet our new patron, Lady Sarah Bathurst.Sixty people came and both Lady Sarah and the vicar, Rob James spoke before Jemima took the stage.  Her half hour was a mix of classical, jazz and popular tunes.  It went down extremely well – a truly virtuoso performance which opened our ears to the range of music you can produce on a harp.

The food which followed was cooked by two members of the committee, Cam Dickie and Jane Curtis.  Everyone enjoyed the meal and of course the liquid refreshment.

There was great enthusiasm for the project and many of those present decided to add to our total by making donations.  In all, over £2,000 was added to our appeal funds.
